Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith on Thursday said the government has no plan to change the tariff in Pangaon Inland Container Terminal.
“The business community demands differential tariff, but it is not possible. We have resolved some problems of the terminal, it has already started,” he told the journalists after a meeting with Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
FBCCI President Abdul Matlub Ahmad, who led a delegation at the meeting in the minister’s secretariat office, said they had discussed various issues including the process of fulfilling the revenue target of national budget for 2016-17.
National Board of Revenue (NBR) and FBCCI will jointly conduct 54 programmes across the country to make popular the Value Added Tax (VAT) online system among the business community, he said.
The system will make hassle-free and transparent the VAT system and increase the amount of VAT collection, he added.
“Each businessman wants to give VAT and tax, but does not want hassle,” he said and hoped that the revenue target would be achieved.
