BSS, Dhaka :
Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan said the BNP has gone mad after losing state power.
He said this on Saturday while speaking as chief guest at a discussion meeting titled ‘Building Sonar Bangla of Bangabandhu by Implementing Digital Bangladesh’ at Shawkat Osman auditorium of Public Library in the city.
Asian Journalist Human Rights and Cultural Foundation organized the discussion marking its 16th founding anniversary.
Shahjahan Khan criticized Tareque Rahman for making statement defaming Bangabandhu and said he does not know what a class five student knows about Bangabandhu.
“It is his (Tareque’s) ignorance,” he added. State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga inaugurated the meeting, which was also addressed by Agrani Bank Director Baloram Poddar, Prof Dr. Moklesur Rahman and Asian Journalist Human Rights and Cultural Foundation Joint General Secretary Maidul Hasan Chowdhury. The organisation’s adviser Reduan Ahmed was in the chair. Fifteen persons were given citations at the function for their outstanding contribution in different fields.
Shahjahan Khan condemned the BNP for its relations with Jamaat-e-Islami and said the people want to know about the source of money of the Jamaat.
Stressed the need for identifying the main enemy, the minister said the BNP the principal enemy of the pro-liberation forces. The country is now divided into two blocks, he said and called for resisting the anti-liberation forces.
Shahjahan Khan said those believing in the spirit of the Liberation War would have to be united. “Otherwise our hard-earned independence would be foiled,” he added.
