The Tarash-Naogaon road is in dilapidated condition due to halt the construction works by the contractors.
Dhaka Jolly Enterprise got the job to repair this road with an allocation of Tk 7 crore. LGED’s Tarash-Naogaon 12 km important paved road has been blocked for a long time due to non-operation for 7 years. Although it took 7 years to get the work of the contractor company at a cost of Tk 7 crore, no repair work has been done on the road.
Hundreds of small, large and heavy vehicles ply the Tarash to Naogaon road every day. Especially on the day of Naoga weekly market, on Thursdays, twice as many vehicles go out on that road. Due to this, accidents are constantly happening on that road. In 2015, Jolly Enterprise, a Dhaka-based contractor, got a contract to repair the road. As the owner of the contractor is a former senior LGED official, people from LGED’s Tarash, Sirajganj, Pabna, Bogra and Rajshahi offices are reluctant to talk to him. They are even reluctant to give any information to journalists about the road repair work. Maybe that is the reason why the road has not been repaired.
Tarash Upazila Engineer Abu Sayek said, “I have just joined Tarash.” Even then, as far as I know, the process of canceling the tender in the name of the contractor is almost over. Repairs will be done soon with a new tender.
