Farmers at Tarash in Sirajganj Chalanbil are busy cutting Eri-Boro paddy taking it home. Due to the absence of clouds and rain in the sky, the farmers are busy to cut the entire paddy and take it home.
In the meantime, like every year, workers have come from different parts of the country to cut paddy. According to the Tarash Upazila Agriculture Department, Eri-Boro paddy has been cultivated in 22,680 hectares of land in Tarash Upazila during the current Eri-Boro season. The yield of Eri-Boro paddy in the land will be good as the weather is favorable. However, at the end, the farmers have suffered some losses due to the attack of current and brown tree hopper insects in some lands.
The only source of income in the area is paddy. So both men and women have been busy making rice for income and eating throughout the year and taking it home. Especially the female members of the farming family are busier in making rice by boiling paddy all year round.
Because, if the dry paddy gets wet in the rain, it becomes difficult to dry the cooked paddy. So this time everyone is expecting sunshine.
However, some farmers said angrily that they would be overwhelmed by the sight of large sheaves of paddy. I dreamed of good yield. But we have been harmed by the attack of current and brown tree hopper insects in the field. I don’t know if the real money will come home.
Asadus Zaman, a farmer from Uttar Mathurapur village in the upazila, said, “I am very busy now to bring home the target.” Due to the favorable weather, I have been busy cutting the paddy very early but taking it home.
Farmers Abdul Latif of Binsara village, Saddam, Manik Mia, Habibur Rahman of Kasta village, Apil of Gurma village, Altab Sarkar, Dhirendranath of Kusumbi village and Abul Kalam of Serajpur said, Fear of insects and getting sun I am cutting the planted Eri Boro paddy and taking it home.
Tarash Upazila Agriculture Officer Lutfunnahar Luna said the sky has been getting better for several days. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the farmer is busy cutting paddy from the field and bringing it home in a short time.
