Cautioning the International Gateway (IGW) operators, State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Division Tarana Halim on Tuesday said her ministry would not allow any revenue loss of government through the move of the operators.
The minister reiterated her stern position at an urgent meeting with the officials of different divisions and organizations at his ministry office, as she noticed that the IGW operators have initiated a move to increase the international call rate to 2 cent from 1.5 cent bypassing the ministry.
“The move of increasing international call rate by the IGW operators which would cause revenue loss of government would not be acceptable,” said Tarana.
She vowed to take stern action to avert the move at any cost.
The state minister urged the officials concerned to be more unyielding to stop the illegal international call termination through VoIP.
