UNB, Dhaka :State Minister for Post and Telecommunication Tarana Halim has been threatened over phone for her tough stance on illegal voice over internet protocol (VoIP) trade and SIMs.”An anonymous person called me over my official green phone after 11am on Wednesday and issued the threat,” she told UNB on Friday over phone.Asked about the nature of the threat, the junior minister said the anonymous caller asked her to go slowly over banning illegal VoIP business and SIMs. “He told me that I’m doing excess over the issue.”She said, when she asked the caller about his identity, he severed the line. The state minister said she informed the matter to law enforcers. Rapid Action Battalion is trying to trace the caller, she said.Tarana also said she will give in no threat and no threat can stop her from her duty. “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inspired me. I’m working at her directives. No threat can hinder my work,” he said.Terming banning the illegal VoIP and SIMs a big task, she said threat might come while accomplishing the task. “But I’m not afraid of it.”
