A local court in Narayanganj on Monday asked Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to quickly submit the charge sheet in Tanwir Muhammad Taqi murder case.
Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Nurunnahar Yasmin passed the order after a petition was filed over submission of the charge sheet and arrest of the accused, our local correspondent reports.
Lawyer Ziaul Islam Kajol said, “I have so far submitted the petitions four to five times seeking order on charge sheet submission and arrest of the killers. Every time Rab was asked to submit the charge sheet soon.”
As no exact date was fixed by the court, the lawyer did not see any activity by Rab members to this effect, the lawyer alleged.
Taqi (17) went missing after leaving his Shaista Khan Road home for Sudhijon Pathagar, a local library, around 4:00pm on March 6, 2013. He was a student of ABC International School.
On the morning of March 8, his body was found floating on the Shitalakhya river.
Taqi’s father Rafiur Rabbi filed a murder case with Narayanganj Kotwali Police Station the same day. He also submitted a complaint to the superintendent of police on March 18, accusing seven people by name and 8-10 other unnamed people.
Eight of the accused remain absconding while five have been arrested in the case.
