Taposh to probe corruption during Khokon’s tenure in different projects

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Wednesday said that investigations would be carried out on former mayor Sayeed Khokon’s irregularities and corruptions.
Investigation would be conducted thoroughly about irregularities and corruption on different projects including several foot over bridges during the former mayor Sayeed Khokon’s tenure,” said DSCC mayor Fazle Noor Taposh after visiting sights of under construction foot over bridges in the capital.
Barrister Taposh said several projects have been taken during the period of former mayor Sayeed Khokon without any feasibility study.
Many of those projects were taken unnecessary and everything will be brought under stern examination to search the corruption and action to be done against those who were behind the irregularities, he said.
“Different projects have been taken up without any feasibility study which made the projects ineffective and eventually not properly implemented,” he said during his weekly visit to some areas under DSCC.
The mayor further lament on the delay in launching work on many other foot-over bridges including the one near Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Barrister Taposh said that ignoring requirement two foot-over bridges have been connected with lift without any feasibility study during the former mayor tenure.
The mayor said, “To eliminate traffic gridlock from the city streets, we will remove all slow speed vehicles from the roads. We will register all of those vehicles which were not brought under the system in the last 34 years.”
He also have stressed that after implementing the newly adopted decision to run all buses through 42 routes under 22 companies, all anarchies of the transport sectors will be eliminated.
