Noted Bangladeshi filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel will be present as special guest at the opening ceremony of a five-day long international film festival titled ‘The International Short and Documentary Film Festival of Eastern India,’ which is scheduled to be held at Nandan in Kolkata, India from June 23 to 27.
Noted filmmaker Satyajit Roy’s son, Sandip Roy is also expected to be present on the occasion.
To attend the festival national film award winner filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel is going to Kolkata on today’s flight. In the festival, Tanvir Mokammel’s Kornophulir Kanna will be screened.
Besides taking part in this festival, a special film fest featuring Tanvir Mokammel’s four movies – Lalon, Laal Shalu, Rabeya and Jibondhuli are scheduled to be screened in Kolkata, which is to be organised by Saltlake Film Society on July 5 and 6.
It may be mentioned that in 2000, Tanvir Mokammel first attended the Delhi International Film Festival. During that time his directed a movie titled Chitra Nodir Paar-e was screened.
Born on March 8 in 1955, Tanvir Mokammel completed Master degree in English Literature from Dhaka University.
