Police on Saturday evening arrested Jahangir Alam, the main accused in a case filed for the killing of a woman and her three daughters in Tangail.
Police nabbed him near his house around 8:30pm, said Saleh Mohammed Tanvir, Superintendent of Tangail Police.
Hasna Begum, 35, wife of Malaysia expatriate Mozibor Rahman of Dakkhin Sohagpara village in Mirzapur and their three minor daughters–Monira Akter, 14, Meem Akter, 10, and Moli Akter, 7, were burnt to death while they were sleeping at their house at night on October 7.
Jahangir Hossain, 25, a Singapore expatriate, and
son of Bahar Uddin of the same village allegedly burnt them alive pouring petrol after being denied of marring Monira.
Hasna’s brother Mofazzal Hossain filed the case against neighbor Jahangir and nine others with Mirzapur Police Station on the same day.
