National opener Tamim Iqbal and Tigers hopeful Tasamul Haque displayed brilliant performances on day 2 of the 3rd round Tier-2 match of the National Cricket League (NCL), knocking centuries for Chittagong against Barisal in the first innings at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Sunday.
The centurions carried Chittagong to 444/7, which included their partnership of 154 runs.
In a tier-1 match at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Shamsur Rahman remained unbeaten with his century in the first innings on day two for Dhaka Metro, the side trailed by 106 runs with 6 wickets in hand, against Dhaka Division’s first innings 327 runs.
Keeping their batting castle intact in the tier-1 match, Khulna (211runs in the 1st innings) led by 21 runs in the 2nd innings against Rangpur (220 runs in the 1st innings) after the 2nd day’s play at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
Replying to Sylhet’s first innings of 328, Rajshahi trailed by 145 runs with 7 wickets in hand in the first innings after the 2nd day’s play in their tier-2 match at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra.
Chittagong vs Barisal
Chittagong resumed the first innings with overnight score of 206 for 2 in 57.1 overs and at stumps playing 151 overs for 444 for 7, riding on the overnight third wicket stand for 154 runs in 55.5 overs between Tamim and Tasamul.
Tamim played a fantastic innings off 229 balls for his century of 137 runs featuring 17 boundaries and three sixes.
Tasamul knocked another brilliant century of 107 runs off 292 balls involving nine fours and two sixes.
Skipper Irfan Sukkur scored 47 runs off 104 balls with three fours while Yasir Ali and Iftekhar Sajjad added 28 and 19 runs respectively on the day.
Mohammad Saifuddin and Naeem Islam (Jnr) were batting on scoring 17 and 7 runs respectively when the bails were drawn for the 2nd day.
Sohag Gazi bagged three wickets for 144 runs while Al-Amin took two for 56 runs in the innings. Saleh Ahmed and Golam Kabir took one wicket each for Barisal.
Dhaka Division vs Dhaka Metro
In the round’s Dhaka derby, Arafat Sunny’s six-for skittled out Dhaka Division the side resumed the first innings with overnight score of 261 for 4 in 90 overs and scored 327 runs losing all in 113.4 overs.
Adding a single with his previous collection, overnight Raqibul Hasan was out dismally for 99 off 182 balls including 11 boundaries while another overnight batsman Nadif Chowdhury scored 39 off 68 balls involving two fours and one six, added just more two runs with previous figure.
Skipper Mohammad Sharif (20), Saghir Hossain (16) and Mosharraf Hossain (not out 13) were the other double figure scorers on the 2nd day.
Arafat Sunny grabbed six wickets conceding 96 runs in the first innings while Asif Ahmed, Sharifullah and Shahidul Islam took one wicket each.
Opening the first innings Dhaka Metro scored 221 runs for 4, at stumps, in 66 overs, spurred by Shamsur Rahman’s unbeaten century of 118 runs off 201 balls involving 13 fours and one six.
Apart from his century, Shamsur Rahman pairing with Shykat Ali contributed 98 runs in 29.2 overs in the opening stand.
Shykat scored 48 off 77 balls with 7 fours and one six while Marshall Ayub and skipper Mahmudullah added 24 and 10 runs respectively.
Mehrab Hossain (Jnr) was batting on when the bails were drawn for the 2nd day.
Mosharraf Hossain grabbed two wickets for 73 runs while Mohammad Sharif bagged one wicket.
Khulna vs Rangpur
Mehedi Hasan Miraz’s six-for restricted Rangpur, the side resumed the 1st innings with overnight 23 for 2 in 18 overs, at 220 in 98.2 overs.
Skipper Nasir Hossain scored team highest 96 off 150 balls with 12 fours and one six. In the 4th wicket Nasir paired with Naeem Islam for an 85 runs in 34 overs.
Naeem scored 44 runs off 196 balls with two fours while Suhrawadi Shuvo (24), Dhiman Ghosh (20) and Tanveer Haider (not out 11) were the other doubled digit scorers for the side.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz conceded 50 runs for six wickets while veteran spinner Abdur Razzak bagged four wickets for 77 runs.
Having 211runs in the 1st innings, Khulna opened the 2nd innings and at stumps with 30 runs without losing wicket in 17 overs.
Mahedi Hasan and Imrul Kayes were batting for 17 and 13 runs respectively when the bails were drawn for the 2nd day.
Sylhet Vs Rajshahi
Sylhet resumed the first innings with overnight score of 236/4 in 90 overs and were all out for 328 runs in 128.5 overs.
Overnight centurion cum opener Imtiaz Hossain raised his individual score to 154. Imtiaz featured 15 fours and one six facing 345 balls.
Another overnight Ruman Ahmed scored 82 for 165 runs with 10 fours and one six.
Sunzamul Islam grabbed four wickets for 73 runs while Shafaq Al Zabir and Moinul Islam took two wickets each.
Opening the first innings Rajshahi scored 183 runs for 3, at stumps, in 45.4 overs.
Farhad Hossain was batting on scoring team highest 80 off 126 runs with 12 fours.
Opener Nazmul Hossain Shanto was the other notable contributor scoring 62 runs off 116 balls with eight fours.
Alok Kapali, Nazmul Hossain and Enamul Haque (Jnr) took one wicket each for 22, 30 and 33 runs respectively.
