Agency :
Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal was disappointed with a poor performance in the field as well as a serious hamstring injury to the opening batter Liton Das.
Bangladesh dropped catches at crucial moments of the game, there were chances to send back both centurions Sikandar Raza (135) and Innocent Kaia (110) but the fielders spoilt the game.
“We have been dropping catches regularly and getting away with it, but I knew that one day it would cost us and today was that day,” said Tamim.
“Almost every day, I talk about our fielding. It was going to be the cause of our downfall someday. It was one of those days. We dropped catches a number of times in T20Is in the past, but somehow won those games. But when you drop four catches on such a good wicket, you won’t be able to win matches. It seems like we have to think about this issue [fielding] before the next game,” he said.
Tamim rued about Liton’s hamstring injury which ruled him out from the remaining of the series. “The news about Liton (Das) is not good — I think he could miss the rest of the series. This is what I have heard and I need to check up on some others,”
Bangladesh, seventh in the ODI rankings and eight places above Zimbabwe, took advantage of being put in to bat by building what seemed a winning score.
