Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal is the first batsman of Bangladesh who crossed the 6000-run land-mark in T20 Cricket. Skipper of Fortune Barishal scored a run-a-ball 31 runs against Beximco Dhaka in their match of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Wednesday. He scored 6004 runs in the T20 Cricket playing 213 matches. His highest score is 141 (not out) with a remarkable average of 31.27. He needed 27 runs to reach the 6000-run land-mark.
To achieve the 6000-run land-mark he hit a boundary in the 11th over of Nasum Ahmed of Beximco Dhaka.
The 31-year old left-arm opener made three centuries and 38 half centuries in his T20 career. Tamim Iqbal is the 39th batsmen of the whole world who reached the 6000-run land-mark.
He played ICC World XI, Essex, Nottinghamshire, Wellington, Bangladesh Cricket Board XI, Fortune Barishal, Chittagong Division, Chittagong Kings, Chittagong Vikings, Comilla Victorians, Dhaka Platoon, Duronto Rajshahi, Wayamba United, Peshwar Zalmi, Saint Lucia Zouks, Lahore Qalanders and many other teams to reach the 6000-run club.
Tamim Iqbal scored 155 runs in the ongoing Bangabandhu T20 Cup Cricket with a highest score of 77.
It may be mentioned that World class all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was the other batsman who crossed the 5000-run land-mark. He also bagged 356 wickets in his T20 career.
