Bangladesh’s Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes on Saturday have broken a 55-year old record of opening stand of the third innings of Test cricket. England’s Colin Cowdrey and Geoff Pullar held the records of 290-run opening partnership in the third innings of a Test match against South Africa in 1960. Tamim and Imrul broke the 55-year record taking a single in the fifth delivery off Junaid Khan in the 68th over. At that time both batsmen were unbeaten on 143 runs. Their record opening partnership ended at 312 as Imrul Kayes was caught by the substitute fielder off Zulfiqar Babar in the 76th over. Both batsmen reached 150-mark and bagged their individual highest Test score. This is also the highest Test partnership for Bangladesh in any wicket, 300 plus first time ever for the country.
