Hard-hitter opening batsman Tamim Iqbal crossed the 4000-run landmark in ODI cricket when he batted against Scotland in their Group A match of the ICC World Cup Cricket 2015 at the Saxton Oval in Nelson, New Zealand on Thursday. He is now the second Bangladesh batsman, who scored above 4000 runs in ODI cricket.
Tamim Iqbal was deprived from a ton for just five runs. He hit 95 from 100 balls with nine fours and a sixer before he was trapped leg before wicket by JV Davey.
Tamim Iqbal scored 4085 runs playing 138 ODI matches. Earlier, Shakib Al Hasan crossed the 4000-run landmark. Shakib Al Hasan scored 4138 runs playing 144 matches. It is noteworthy that world class Shakib made that score playing 138 innings.
Tamim Iqbal hit 28 ODI half centuries and four ODI centuries.
The 25-year-old opening batsman played 137 innings to score above 4000 runs.
The left-hand batsman had a 30.09 average with 77.60 strike rate. His highest score is 154.
He made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe at Harare in 2007.
