BSS, Dhaka :
Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal has notched up yet another milestone by going past the 11000-run landmark in international cricket during Bangladesh’s second match in the ongoing tri-nation series against Sri Lanka at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday.
After Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza opting to bat first, Tamim found himself on the field with Anamul Haque Bijoy.
On the fourth ball of the second over of innings, the opener played a beautiful shot as he makes the most out of the half-volley delivery by Nuwan Pradeep and drills it past the fielder at mid-off.
With the boundary, he becomes the first Bangladeshi player to join the elite club of 11000 runs in international cricket. Meanwhile, he is now the only 67th player in the history of cricket to score 11000 or more runs in international.
Earlier, the Southpaw opener started the ongoing series with 89 runs short to the milestone as he had 10909 runs next to his name. He needed only 7 runs after his match winning 84-run knock in the first match against Zimbabwe.
To be noted, the dashing opener is currently leading the list of the highest run scorers for Bangladesh in both ODI and Test format. He has scored 3886 runs in Test cricket at an average of 39.25 while over 5850 runs in ODI format so far.
