UNB, Dhaka :
President Abdul Hamid on Tuesday hoped that a guideline will come out through the opinions of political parties over the formation of a strong Election Commission (EC).
The President made the remarks during a discussion with an 18-member Jatiya Party (JaPa) delegation, led by its chairman HM Ershad, at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban.
Abdul Hamid said the discussion has created a scope to exchange views with the political parties, which is very important
President’s press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
During the 80-minute meeting, Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad presented a five-point proposal to reconstitute the Commission.
Ershad, also a PM’s Adviser, explained the party’s logic to formulate a law regarding the EC formation.
Thanking the President for initiating the dialogue, the JaPa chief said the nation has developed a confidence in the President. “Jatiya Party believes in dialogue, not in any conflict,” Joynal Abedin said quoting the JaPa chairman as saying.
