Talks on BD-Nepal power trade begins today

A two-day meeting of the Joint Steering Committee (JSC) of Bangladesh and Nepal is set to begin in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu on Monday.
A seven-member high-powered Bangladesh delegation, headed by Power Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, has already left here for Nepal to join the maiden JSC meeting.
 According to officials at the Power Ministry, the meeting will mainly focus on Bangladesh’s investment in hydropower projects in Nepal and import of electricity from the Himalayan nation through the Indian territory.
They said Dhaka has already signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Kathmandu for cooperation in the development of the power and energy sector.
