Talk on early marriage prevention held

A view exchange meeting between social workers of Bangladesh and Nepal titled “Success of preventing early marriage” was held in the port city.
In this connection, a programme was held at Chittagong American Corner through skypy on Thursday afternoon.
Manager of the American Corner Rooma Dass said, “Country’s port city is considered as a role model in Asia as the city is stepping forward to prevent early marriage than other countries.”
“We are trying to connect the social activists of the two countries so that they can share their views and opinion on the issue, she added.
During the session Nepali activists showed their interest on how Bangladesh is preventing early marriage.
They also wanted to know the reasons behind the success and government law to stop this problem.
The session was addressed by Nadira Sulata Helen, Programme Coordinator of Theater for Social Action, Nargis Chowdhury, Programme Coordinator of Sansoptok, Nasrin Rahman, writer and social activist, while Mr Sharada Bashyal Belbase, District Women and Child officer of Rupandehi Nepal, Ms Gyanu Poudyal, Chairperson of Namuna Integrated Development Council, Ms Saraswati Tharu, CIWIN, Nepal Field Officer and Mr Dilip Bhattarai, Founder Member of Americal Corner Bhairahawa Nepal.
