One is Anima Roy and another is Priyanka Gope. Priyanka Gope is the Assistant Professor of Department of Music at University of Dhaka. On the other hand, Anima Roy is Assistant Professor of Department of Music at Jagannath University. Anima Roy is a noted Tagore artiste. Her dedication is to Tagore songs. On the other hand, Priyanka Gope is expert in
classical music. Therefore, she is also prominent in other songs.
Priyanka Gope joined as Lecturer in Department of Music at University of Dhaka in 2012. Anima Roy joined in Jagannath University in 2013 in Department of Music (then Department of Theatre and Music). Anima Roy was the first teacher who became chairman from the Department of Music in Jagannath University.
In 2015, both Priyanka and Anima got promotion in the post of Assistant Professor in their respective universities. Priyanka enthralled the viewers by her performances in Asian TV’s live musical show on Thursday night. On the other hand, Anima rendered songs on Channel i’s live musical show on Friday morning. She also impressed the viewers by virtue of her performance in the programme. According to Anima Roy, besides working as university teacher, she has been running a music school titled Sur Bihar, which was started in 2005. While talking about her activities as university teacher, singer Anima Roy said, “I always enjoy teaching at either Jagannath University or Sur Bihar. But when I am a teacher at university, I absolutely forget about my music school. I try to take care of every student there. I believe they are all of mine. And when I go to my music school, Sur Bihar, it seems to be that organisation by which I started to dream. In this music school, aged from 4 to 60 anybody can get the opportunity to learn music. I have always intention to give my level best effort to teach them music in this school. In fact, I can develop myself to teach them.”
Priyanka Gope shared her feelings by this way, “As a teacher, I am hundred percent honest in my work. It is true that while giving lessons and learning music, I am not only soft minded but also tough to the students. It is tough because I never ignore regulations. I cannot take these like students come to classes without learning songs properly or they come to attend examinations only or not to attend classes regularly. These really make me to be serious and tough for them. Basically I have to do these only for the welfare of the learners.”
