The High Court on Monday directed the authorities concerned to take necessary steps for imposing ban on plying of unfit vehicles on roads across the country.
An HC bench comprising Justice Quazi Reza-ul-Hoque and Justice Abu Taher MD Saifur Rahman passed the suo moto order following separate reports published in ‘Dainik Janakantha’ and ‘The Daily Star’,
The court also asked the authorities concerned to seize 18.77 lakh fake licenses and take legal action against the illegal license holders.
Besides, the HC also asked the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) chairman, Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the other authorities concerned to submit a report on compliance of its order
by the next 30 days. The court also fixed September 2 for next hearing in this regard.
