A six-wicket haul from Taijul Islam enable Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC)to register a cakewalk 51 run win over Legends of Rupganj in the low scoring fifth round match of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Tuesday at the BKSP ground-3 in Savar.
Left arm off-spinner Taijul from Natore spearheaded Mohammedan’s attack to spun his web to bowl out Rupganj for a paltry 84 runs in 32.4 overs while chasing a small target of 137 set by MSC.
The spinner bowled his ten overs quota with figures of 6 for 24 – including the scalp of six top batsmen of Mohammedan and quite rightly earned the man of the match award for his match winning bowing spells.
Rupganj’s skipper Mosharraf Hossain (22), Naeem Islam (15) and Yasir Ali (14) were the Rupganj batsmen who could reach the double figure mark.
Apart from Taijul’s six-wicket haul, Sajedul Islam supported him with two wickets for three runs.
Earlier, Mohammedan asked to bat first, faced serious batting debacle and were finally all out for 135 in 39.4 overs. Skipper Raqibul Hasan top scored with 24 runs followed by Shamsur Rahman (23), and Nazmul Hossain Milon (20).
Asif Hossain was the pick of Rupganj bowler as he claimed four Mohammedan’s wicket by conceding 19 runs. He was well supported by Mohammad Sharif and Jalaj S Saxena who both claimed two wickets each for 15 and 35 runs respectively.
