Sports Reporter :
Pakistan scored 145 for the loss of none before the bails were drawn for the second day. It seemed that the visitors will score a massive total on the third day. But left-arm spinner Taijul Islam showed a superb display as the tourists were dismissed for 286 runs in the first innings and Bangladesh took 44-run lead in the first innings. Taijul Islam bowled extremely well as the left-arm spinner finished his superb spell as 44.4-9-116-7.
Opener Abid Ali hit a century, while Abdullah Shafique, the other opener notched up a half-century in his debut. Apart from Abid Ali and Abdullah Shafique, no Pakistani batsman could get half-century.
Pakistan resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 145 for the loss of none. But Taijul dismissed Abdullah Shafique and Azhar Ali in his consecutive two deliveries.
Then, Taijul bowled out Babar Azam for just 10 runs.
Fawad Alam was caught behind by wicketkeeper Liton Das off Taijul. Fawad scored just eight runs.
Centurion Abid Ali was dropped on 113 by Najumul Hossain Shanto. The ball came in the first slip after touching Abid Ali from a delivery off Taijul Islam. Taijul played the key role to restrict Pakistan to a modest total as in-form Abid Ali was trapped leg before wicket by Taijul Islam. Then, Hasan Ali went down the wicket to hit a delivery of Taijul but Hasan missed the ball and wicketkeeper Liton Das made no mistake to stump out him. And it was the five-wicket haul for Taijul Islam. Number-10 batsman Nauman Ali was trapped leg before wicket by Taijul Islam when Pakistan’s total was 257 for the loss of nine wickets. After Nauman Ali’s dismissal, set batsman Faheem Ashraf was caught by Liton Das off Taijul Islam when the board was giving Pakistan’s score 286 and Taijul captured seven wickets.
