The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Thursday accepted a plea of the prosecution, allowing the investigation agency to interrogate Obaidul Haque alias Abu Taher and Ataur Rahman alias Noni one day each at its safe home.
Prosecutor Sabina Yesmin Khan Munni submitted the petition on Thursday pleading for allowing the investigation agency to grill the duo for two days each. But advocate Tarikul Islam Tarique, counsel for Taher, opposed the plea.
After holding a brief hearing into the matter, the ICT-1 accepted the prosecution plea in part. Taher and Noni, alleged Razakars and residents of Mokhterpara in Netrakona, were arrested on August 12, about an hour after the International Crimes Tribunal-1 had issued warrants against them.
The duo was produced before the tribunal on August 13, when it sent them to jail asking the prosecution to submit the progress report into investigation by September 14.
Meanwhile, the first tribunal also held hearing on a petition of Barrister Sarwar Hossain, counsel for Abdul Latif Talukder, seeking bail for the alleged Razakar leader from Bagerhat.
