Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday strongly denounced the cowardly killing of UN Bangladeshi peacekeeper in Mali Nilkanto Hajong and urged the United Nations to play a more effective role in tackling such terrorist and militant acts.
In a condolence message, Sheikh Hasina also
expressed profound shock at the death of Bangladeshi UN Peacekeeper Nilkanto Hajong of Bangladesh Army, who was shot dead by terrorists at Bamako in Mali.
She said Bangladesh has always stood against terrorism and militancy both at national and international levels. The Prime Minster also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her deep sympathy to the family members of the bereaved.
She also wished early recovery of another Bangladeshi peacekeeper, Sirajul Islam, who was injured in the same incident.
