Staff Reporter:BNP on Saturday announced Tabith Awal and Ishraque Hossain’s names as their candidates for the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) respectively for the coming January 30 polls.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the announcement at a press briefing at the party Chairperson’s Gulshan office in Dhaka on Saturday evening
He said, Tabith Awal is a member of the party’s national executive committee while Ishraque Hossain is the elder son of recently late BNP Vice Chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka who was the last Mayor of the undivided Dhaka City Corporation.
Mirza Fakhrul said, the party is participating in the city corporation polls as part of their movement.
On Friday, three high-profile aspirants of BNP submitted their nomination forms at the party central office.
Ishraque Hossain, son of the late BNP Vice Chairman and former mayor of undivided Dhaka City Corporation Sadeque Hossain Khoka, submitted his nomination paper seeking the party’s DSCC mayoral candidacy.
On the other hand, Tabith Awal, elder son of senior BNP leader Abdul Awal Mintoo, and former Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal President Asaduzzaman Ripon also submitted forms soliciting nominations as the BNP’s DNCC mayoral candidate.
