Staff Reporter: A group of miscreant on Tuesday attacked onTabith Awal, the BNP nominated mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) election, while he was campaigning in Dhaka’s Mirpur area.
Witnesses said Tabith along with supporters started election campaign in Gabtoli this morning.
At the time, a group of people suddenly attacked Tabith and his supporters.
Later, Tabith Awal alleged to journalists that Awami League-backed councillor candidate Mujib Sarwar Masum and his followers attacked them while they were campaigning in Mirpur’s Kalabazar area.
The attackers used homemade weapons and brickbats during the attack. Tabith claimed he received minor injuries.
Besides, several supporters were also injured in the attack, he alleged.
