Shabaash Mithu, starring Taapsee Pannu, is based on the life of celebrated Indian cricketer Mithali Raj, and has the
actress playing the titular role.
To keep her fans excited for the film, Pannu recently shared a teaser on social media, but the movie is yet to get
a release date.
Shabaash Mithu has been directed by noted Indian filmmaker Srijit Mukherji. Priya Aven has written the script. Apart from Pannu, Vijay Raaz will be playing
a prominent part in the biopic. Amit Trivedi has composed the music for the film, while Swanand Kirkire and Kausar Munir are the lyricists. Shabaash Mithu
is backed by Viacom 18 Studios and Colosceum Media. Earlier, the film was to release on February 4, but its premiere was stalled due to Covid-19. Then, makers targeted the ICC Women’s World Cup but that plan was cancelled, too.
Interestingly, Shabaash Mithu is not
the only female-centric cricket biopic getting made in Bollywood.
Anushka Sharma is also starring in a film on the story of former Indian national women’s cricket team captain, Jhulan Goswami. Titled Chakda Xpress, it will
hit Netflix this year.
