T-Aman cultivation is progressing fast in all the ten upazilas of Netrakona district during the current season.
Farmers are rendering their field-level service round the clock with a hope to achieve bumper production of the T-Aman paddy following favorable climate condition and financial and logistic support including adequate supply of seed and fertilizer and other agricultural inputs from the government.
District Agricultural Extension Department (DAED) Office sources here said, meanwhile the Aman cultivators could cultivate the T-Aman paddy on 1,28,295 hectares of land exceeding the district’s T-Aman farming target fixed at 1,6,464 hectares of land this year.
The T-Aman paddy production target was fixed at 4,64,397 tonnes this year, but now the Aman paddy growers are expecting to produce over six lakhs tonnes of paddy if the weather condition remained favorable during the harvesting period, the sources said.
Replying to a question, the deputy director said that the field -workers and crops specialists of the DAED, Netrakona are extending cooperation to the farmers to let them know about the modern methods of T-Aman cultivation for getting satisfactory output of the paddy by reducing the production costs.
