Farmers have started T-Aman (Transplanted Aman) cultivation in Jamalpur district during the current Kharip-2 season. According to the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), farmers have cultivated T-Aman on 1100 hectares of land till today.
DAE has fixed a target of T-Aman cultivation on 1,09,700 hectares of land with a production target of 3,09,294 tonnes of rice in seven upazilas of the district this year.
The DAE sources said T-Aman cultivation includes high yielding variety (HYV) on 75,000 hectares of land with a production target 2,06,250 tonnes of rice, high breed on 21,800 hectares with a production target of 82,404 tonnes of rice and local variety on 12,900 hectares with a production target of 20,640 tonnes of rice.
The agriculture department sources said farmer prepared T-Aman seed bed on 1060 hectares of land for high breed variety, 3408 hectares of land for high yielding variety and 182 hectares of land for local variety.
Deputy Director (In-charge), DAE, Zakia Sultana said lack of sufficient rain farmers started planting Aman seedlings slowly.
