Md Mahabub Alam :
A syndicate has made a fortune of about Tk one crore from some job seekers to Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) with promise of providing jobs in the anti-corruption watch dog. Some officials of the ACC are allegedly behind the syndicate which had taken between TK three to four lakh from each of the job seekers, sources said.
Some appointment letters were even issued, the ACC said adding two members of the syndicate were caught red handed last month.
Rezaul Islam who is one of the victims of the gang was issued an appointment letter in the post of Deputy Director on February 18. Talking to The New Nation he said, ” I have been desperately looking for a government job for four the last years. I came in touch with Enamul for getting a job in ACC in exchange of Tk three lakh. Later, I was given an appointment letter”.
But Rezaul to his great shock found his appointment letter as fake when he was planning to join the ACC. Rezaul said, “I came to the ACC head office to join the job. But I was disappointed when the letter was rejected describing it as fake by the administration.”
Rezaul is just one of the many job seekers who have been cheated by the organised gang. ACC Commissioner Shahabuddin Chuppu said that the commission has already arrested two members of the syndicate.
When asked whether any official of ACC was behind the syndicate , he said it is likely. “The commission is looking into the matter now”. “If involvement of any one is found, legal action will be taken against him or her”, he said.
It should be mentioned in this context that last year the ACC recruited some employees through completion of procedural formalities. The organised gang might have used that advertisement for cheating the job seekers, it is felt.
Mahfuz Sardar and Safat Hossain gave money to Enamul, one of the members of the gang for job as MLSS. As per the allegation, ACC captured Enamul form Kamlapur.
Later, following confessional statement of Enamul, the police arrested Noman who used to introduce himself as Deputy Director Harunur Rashid of ACC. ACC has lodged a case against four persons in this connection.
