Sylhet International Stadium in Bangladesh will host the 2022 Women’s Asia Cup from October 1 to October 16, which will include seven teams. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) women’s committee chairperson Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel confirmed the matter to ESPNCricinfo.
The hosts are also the defending champions, having beaten India in a nail-biting final in Kuala Lumpur in 2018.
The seven-team competition will take place following the 2022 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers in the United Arab Emirates.
Other participating nations, according to ESPNCricinfo, include India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates. On September 27-28, they will arrive in the host country.
No women’s international matches have been held in the subcontinent country since Pakistan’s tour in 2018. Sylhet will also host an international match for the first time since the 2014 T20 World Cup.
India are also the most successful side in the history of the tournament with six titles.
