Sylhet roads in bad shape

Some 45 roads in the Sylhet are in extremely poor condition for long but there is no initiative to repair. With the advent of the monsoon, the condition has further worsened, increasing sufferings of the Sylhet district and city dwellers. Some of the district and city roads are almost totally unfit for use due to ditches and potholes.
The roads are at Sylhet-Companiganj, Sylhet-Sunamganj, Sylhet-Chattak, Sylhet Jagannathpur, Sylhet-Beanibazar, Sylhet-Rampasha, Sylhet-Biswanath, Sylhet-Sultanpur-Balagonj, Sylhet-Kamalbazar, Sylhet-Sherpur, Sylhet-Lamakazi, Sylhet-Kanaighat and Sylhet-Zokigonj. Besides, from Sylhet to Sherpur Highway, Station Road, Kadomtoly Road, Amborkhan-Subidbazar, Mira Bazar, Magortila, Shibgonj, New Railway Station Road, are also in bad shape, which require immediate attention of the concerned authorities. The condition of the Keane Bridge, Lawai, Boroikandi is also sorrowful.
Riazul Islam, a city resident from Subidbazar said, poor state of roads and water logging have simply compounded our miseries. These cave in very easily when full loaded trucks ply on. Attention should be given to all these. But sadly there is none to take action he said.
Samaun Ahmed A city dweller of Shibgonj said that quality of the construction materials of most Sylhet roads and streets were sub-standard. Even, the ratio of bitumen, sands, cement and pebbles were not maintained. Moreover, the load capacity of these roads being less than designed.
