UNB, Habiganj :A court here on Tuesday sent Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) mayor and BNP central leader Ariful Haque Chowdhury, rejecting his bail prayers in the former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria murder case.Senior Judicial Magistrate Rokeya Akhter passed the order when mayor Ariful surrendered before her court around 10am seeking bail.Earlier on December 21, Senior Judicial Magistrate Rashid Ahmed Milon, Judge of the Habiganj Cognizance Court-2, accepted the supplementary chargesheet filed against 35 people by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Police in connection with the killing of five people, including Shah AMS Kibria.Three of the accused have been dropped from the chargesheet while 21 shown arrested, eight on bail and 11 remain fugitive.The supplementary chargesheet was submitted by CID assistant superintendent of police Meherunnesa Khanam on November 13, implicating former State Minister for Home Lutfozzaman Babar, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s political secretary Harris Chowdhury and Sylhet City mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, in the Kibria murder case.
