Sylhet, Manchester sign memo on dev

Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Manchester City of the United Kingdom to work together for development in deferent sectors including education, health, tourism, waste management and infrastructure.
Sylhet mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury and Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham signed in the memorandum on behalf of the respective cities on Friday night in a function at a hotel in Sylhet.
According to the deal, authorities of the Sylhet and Manchester cities would work together for one year next for development in the education, health, tourism, waste management, infrastructure and environment sectors of the both cities.
Apart from exchanging expertise, authorities of the two cities would share their own development plans during the working period.
As par the agreement, they also would review achievement of the initiative after completion of one year and then the memorandum can be renewed in basis of willingness of both the sides.

Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital director Brigadier General Yunusur Rahman, Sylhet Private Clinic Association president Nasim Ahmed, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology professor Kabir A Chowdhury, Sylhet City Corporation chief engineer Nur Azizur Rahman and its councillors were present at the programme.
