A mobile court has fined two hotels in Sylhet for hosting wedding receptions attended by more than 100 guests, violating coronavirus restrictions on Friday.
A mobile court, led by Sylhet District Administration Executive Magistrate Md Mezbah Uddin, fined Hiltown Hotel with Tk1 lakh and Rainbow Guest House with Tk50,000.
Besides, an individual, involved in arranging the wedding, was fined Tk10,000.
“To tackle the worsening Covid-19 situation in the country, the government has imposed restrictions.
However, the events at the hotels, where many people gathered, were in violation of the current Covid-19 regulations and should not have taken place,” said Executive Magistrate Mezbah.
