Sylhet FF commander Jewel sent to jail

Sylhet District Muktijuddah Sangsad (Freedom Fithers’) Council Mr. Subrata Chakrabarti Jewel has been arrested Wednesday night following a case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission, Sylhet, made appear before the court who sent him to jail yesterday.
The Anti-Corruption Commission Sylhet’s Deputy Director Rebha Halder, being a plaintiff lodged a graft case against Sylhet District FFs Commander Mr. Subrata Chakrabarti Jewel as per Anti-Corruption rule. The case has been lodged with the District Commission. During Caretaker Government in 2007, Mr. Subrata managed to procure 1700 plate of paddle rickshaws, of which 2 per FF were to be distributed among 500 FFs in Sylhet, while out of remaining 700 plates, 107 ones have been kept for his native Sunamgonj District Residential Freedom Fighters whose names and addresses have been found incorrect.
Besides, 700 plates of rickshaws have been earmarked for Muktijuddah Prokolpo Sylhet Foundation named after Subrata Chakrabarti Jewel Commander. For all those 700 plates he embezzled Tk. 3,52,80,000 (Three Crore Fifty Two Lakh Eighty Thousand) as freight (rent). In the complain, Mr. Shubrata embezzled money of sacrificial cattle market Koydi Bazar during the Eidul Azha in 2007.
At the same time information Ministry gave 13 computers of which no trace has been found out. When Mr. Subrata was notified more then one time to appear before the ACC Sylhet, but he (Subrata) did not respond. As per commission’s Act clause 19(3) of 2004, a regular prosecution has been lodged in this connection and as per rules he has been taken prisoner.
