Sylhet district football team and Bangladesh Army reached the semifinal from Group A of the Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games men’s football event held on Monday at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.
The semifinals of the event will be held today with Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan facing Bangladesh Army in the first semifinal at 1.00pm, while Sylhet district football team meet Satkhira district football team in the second semis at 3.00pm at the same venue.
In the day’s only match, Sylhet district beat Bangladesh Army by 2-1 goals to emerge the group A champions. Bangladesh Army finished group A runners-up with the day’s defeat.
In the proceeding, Farque and Zillur scored one goal each for the winners’ while Tareq netted the lone goal for the losers.
In the day’s another match, Khulna district got a walkover against Pabna district.
