Syed Mamun of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) put up a brilliant display to retained both singles and double title of the Jatiya Press Club (JPC) Table Tennis tournament held on Wednesday at the JPC TT Room in the city.
The tournament is a part of the celebration on the occasion of 61st founding anniversary of JPC.
Syed Mamun hardly had to sweat as he beat Borhan Uddin of Ajker Pottrika in the final by 11-2 and 11-7 in the straight 2-0 sets. Md Anwar uddin of BSS finished third beating Shamsuddin Charu of Ittefaq 9-11, 11-9 11-4.
Earlier on way to the final, Syed Mamun beat Shamsuddin Charu in the first semifinal while Borhanuddin defeated Md Anwar uddin in the second semis.
In the doubles final, once again Syed Mamun pairing with Kazi Rounak Hossain of Sorgam dethroned Md Anwar uddin and Masumbillah pair 11-5, 11-4 in the exciting doubles final. Mostafa Kamal and Shamsuddin Ahmed Charu duo won the third slot in the event.
