Swimmer Mahfuza wants to participate in Olympics

Famed swimmer Mahfuza Khatun Shila, who won two gold medals in the 12th South Asian Games in Guwahati, has expressed her desire to participate in the ensuing Olympics in Rio (Brazil).
Mahfuza, who completed graduation from Communication and Journalism Department of Chittagong University recently, said this while addressing a reception arranged by Chittagong University Journalism Association, Dhaka (CUJAD) at the Jatiya Press Club on Tuesday.
Mahfuza, a swimmer from Panchkabor village of Nowapara under Jessore district, also thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for taking initiative to resolve her accommodation problems.
Mahfuza Khatun won two gold medals in the women’s 100-metre and 50-metre breaststroke of the 12th South Asian Games in Guwahati on February Feb 7 and 8.
Chaired by CUJAD president Jashimuddin Khan and conducted by association general secretary Tonmoy Majumder, the reception was also addressed by journalist Jagaron Chamka, Momena Akter Popy and Parvez Chowdhury.
