Sweet mango turns sour for police super

Mango is one of the delicious fruits having a unique flavour, fragrance and taste, but for a police officer it has finally turned sour for receiving it in bribe.
Allegations have it that police super of Chapainawabganj M Bashir Ahmed received some 160 baskets of mango from a section of people in bribe to help them avail of undue government facilities, an official at the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) told UNB wishing anonymity. He said, the ACC received an allegation against police super Bashir Ahmed on September 13, 2014 and the Commission at its recent meeting decided to launch a probe into the complaint.
The two-page allegation mentioned that he took 160 baskets of mango worth Tk 90,000 from a section of people promising them to provide illegal advantage.
The ACC official said the Commission has already sent a latter to its Rajshahi Divisional Office directing him to appoint an inquiry officer to conduct a probe into the graft allegation against Bashir.
