Five students of the Department of Soil, Water and Environment of Dhaka University (DU) were awarded ‘SWED-DU Trust Gold Medal’ while 18 students of the same department received scholarships for their outstanding academic results.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique conferred the gold medals and scholarships as the chief guest at a function held on Saturday at the Departmental Auditorium of the university, reports UNB.
Chairman of the Department of Soil, Water & Environment Prof Dr Md. Aminur Rahman Majumder presided over the function while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain addressed it as special guest.
Senior teacher of the Department Prof Dr S M Imamul Huq and Executive Director of the Trust Prof Dr Md. Didar-Ul-Alam also addressed the function.
The gold medalists are – Afsana Parvin (Jebunnessa-Altaf Memorial Gold Medal), Hamim Tabassum Prova (Jebunnessa-Altaf Memorial Gold Medal), Nadia Noor (Dr M. O. Ghani Memorial Gold Medal), Khadija Tahera Khan (Shamsul Arefin Chowdhury Gold Medal) and Umma Farhana Khushi (M A Basit Memorial Gold Medal).
‘Dr Sahab Basit Scholarship’ Awardees are – Most. Ety-Khanm, Md. Badsha Alam, Md. Mamun Howlader, Md. Bayazid Hossain, Md. Beni Amin Saddam, Maimuna Qazi, Afroja Nasrin, Md. Sarafat Hossain, Kazi Md. Jahangir Kabir, Pushpita Chowdhury and Md. Dalowar Hossain. Seven other students of the Department have received ‘Dr F R Khan Memorial Scholarship’, ‘Md. Bahauddin Chowdhury Memorial Scholarship’, ‘Marium Begum Khan Memorial Scholarhsip’, ‘S M Imamul Huq Scholarship’ and ‘Selema Khatun Scholarship’ respectively.
