A union level leader of Swechchhasebok League leader was chopped to death at Laskarpur village under Char Ekkoria union in Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal district at 6:00 pm on Friday morning.
The victim was identified as Idris Majhi, 31, joint secretary of Char Ekkoria union Swechchhasebok League and son of Sekandar Majhi of the area, said Ramkrishna Devnath, convener of upazila SL.
Ujjal Kumar Dey, Mehendiganj police station officer in charge, acknowledging the facts, suspected the murder over land dispute.
Police and family sources said Iqbal Haoladar, son of Rashid Haoladar and nephew of the victim, at 5:30 AM Friday entered in the house telling about charging mobile.
Then Iqbal chopping Idris Majhi fled from the scene at about 6:00 AM Friday.
