A local leader of Swechchhasebak Dal was killed in an attack by some people over previous enmity at Shovona village in Dumuria upazila on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Farhad Hossain, 35, vice-president of Shovona union unit Swechchashebak Dal and son of Babar Ali of the village.
Mashiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Dumuria Police Station, said an altercation ensued between Farhad, president of Shovna Mosque managing committee, and one Amin Sardar over taking sand from the mosque to Amin’s house after Juma prayer.
At one stage of altercation, Amin along with his supporters beat up Farhad mercilessly, leaving him critically injured. Later he was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 10 pm.
