Bulbul Lalitakala Academy was established on May 17 in 1955. As a part of its founding anniversary of three eras in 1991 Sadia Islam Mou and Abdur Rashid Swapan performed in roles of Saju and Rupai in first Geeti Nritayanatya – Nakshi Kanthar Math under the direction of dance legend Rahiza Khanam Jhunu. Earlier Rahiza Khanam performed in role of Saju. Therefore, Jinat Barkatullah and Shamim Ara Nipa also performed in that role in different times. Since 1991 Mou and Swapan has performed in more than 300 shows of this song based theatre play. They also performed outside the country together including BTV.
On the occasion of coming Pahela Boishakh, Mou and Swapan are going to perform on BTV under the coordination of BTV Director General Harun-ur-Rashid. Its recording has been done at BTV’s drama studio recently.
While sharing her feelings to perform with Swapan for 27 years Mou said, “Day by day I have inventing the role Saju. During the earlier times I could not realise the inner meaning of this role but now I have intention to improve this role in the long run.”
It is mentioned that Nakshi Kanthar Math was written mainly by Poet Jasim Uddin. Main concept was given by GA Mannan. Farhana Khan Tanna will be seen in role of Sokhi.
