Muggers snatched Tk 4.5 lakh after stabbing a teacher of Shahjalal University for Science and Technology (SUST) at Dhopadighirpar in the city on Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Belal Ahmed, assistant lecturer of Chemistry Department of the university.
Sohel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said Belal Ahmed withdrew Tk 4.5 lakh from the Uposohor branch of Pubali Bank in the city in the afternoon.
When he reached the area, six muggers coming in four motorcycles intercepted the teacher and snatched his bag containing the money after stabbing him indiscriminately around 2 pm, leaving him critically injured, he said. Later, he was rushed to Ibn Sina hospital.
