Students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) yesterday resumed protest yesterday after a quiet day following the end of their hunger strike.
They resumed their protest with an open discussion.
Discussions were held among students at the Mukta Mancha on the campus around 7:00pm, reports our Sylhet correspondent.
The main topic of the discussion was -“what kind of SUST do the students want”-where they expressed their opinions as to what the university means to them and what kind university SUST “should be” for its students.
The protesting students of SUST on Wednesday night withdrew their barricades from the university’s main gate and the vice chancellor’s residence at the request of former professors Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and Yasmeen Haque.
The hunger strike that began on January 19 demanding the resignation of the vice-chancellor.
The students drank water to break their hunger strike at around 10am on Wednesday. The development comes following the visit of former SUST faculty and noted author Professor Muhammad Zafar Iqbal.
However, the ongoing movement against the university’s VC will continue until all the demands are met, said the demonstrating students.
