A student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) has arrested over allegations of raping a fellow student.
Arrestee Saiful Islam, hailing from Sunamganj, is a third-year student of the English department of the university.
Saiful was arrested last night and was sent to jail on Sunday after police
produced him before a local court, said Md Shaidullah, officer-in-charge of Sunamganj Model Police Station.
Saiful had a love affair with a student over the last three years and took the girl to a messing facility in Akhalia of Sylhet on Wednesday promising to marry her.
He raped the victim for three consecutive days there, said the OC. Later, Saiful abandoned the girl in Sunamganj Sadar bus terminal and went into hiding, he added.
Saiful admitted his involvement to the crime in primary interrogation, the OC said.
