Suspended Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Khandaker Enamul Basir again filed bail petition with the High Court in a case filed over the transaction of Tk 4.0 million as bribe.
The petition may be heard today (Tuesday) at the HC Bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice Kuddus Zaman.
ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan confirmed the news yesterday (Monday).
“Another High Court Bench on September 3, 2019, refused to grant bail to Khandaker Enamul Basir in the case. In the meantime, his lawyer, Advocate M M Jamal Hossain, filed another petition for his bail,” ACC lawyer also said.
Earlier on July 23, a Special Court of Dhaka also rejected his bail petition and then he filed bail petition with the HC through his lawyer.
Enamul Basir, temporarily suspended by the Commission earlier, was arrested by an ACC team led by its Director Sheikh Md Fanafillah from the city’s Darussalam area on July 22.
ACC produced Enamul Basir to the Senior Special Judge’s Court in Dhaka where Judge K M Emrul Kayesh rejected his appeal for bail and ordered to send him to jail.
The ACC official was accused in a case for receiving bribes of Tk 4.0 million from suspended Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Bangladesh Police Mizanur Rahman.
Earlier on July 16, Md Fanafillah filed the case against the two government officials with the ACC’s Dhaka District Coordination Office-1 in Dhaka.
DIG Mizan was shown arrested on the same case on July 21.
But, he has been in jail since July 2 this year as he was earlier detained based on another case lodged on June 24 against him and three of his family members for concealing information of Tk 30.07 million and accumulating Tk 32.80 million from unknown sources.
