A suspected cattle thief was beaten to death by an agitated mob for trying to steal a cattle at Hariagop area of Keshabpur upazila in the district early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Naim Islam, 27, son of Moshiar Mia of Mulgram village of Keshabpur upazila. Locals said they have been agonized in the last few days by frequent incidents centring the stealing of cattle in the village over the past few days. Locals caught Naim in the early hours of Tuesday while he was trying to flee from a house riding a bicycle after a failed attempt to steal cattle.
